Expertise:Study on Hydrogeological Characteristics of Fractured Rocks and Engineering Application

This project widely collected and reviewed a number of the international studies which focused on the hydrogeological survey and assessment of a fractured rock mass, including survey methods, analysis theories, simulation models, and related parameters. Furthermore, several studies of local engineering cases related to fractured rocks, such as tunnel engineering, reservoir engineering, groundwater resources assessment, and rock slope engineering, etc. were also conducted.
In this research, the Equivalent Porous Medium (EPM) model, the Discrete Fracture Network (DFN) model, and the Hybrid EPM/DFN model were applied to simulate the groundwater flow behavior in a fractured rock mass, including estimation of a tunnel inflow under construction, assessment of an earthdam leakage path, and evaluation of slate-slope stability during a rainfall event. Experiences acquired from the study will be very helpful to develop the local standard operation procedures of hydrogeological surveys, tests, analyses, and assessments for fractured rocks.
